Dietetic the Spanish Society of and Sciences of Alimentación (SEDCA), were the first really multidisciplinary scientific association that in Spain began to work for a healthful feeding as of 1986.
This Congress, like the previous ones, will be place of encounter of all the professionals of the scope of the feeding, the nutrition and the dietetic one with the high-priority objective to update knowledge, putting them to the service of the Spanish company, the public health and, really, of the improvement of the diet of the Spaniards.
We are sure that in Madrid, in 2008, no participant will leave with the empty hands. Thus, our persistence in obtaining a Congress of scientific high level goes in parallel with the aim of centering to us in subjects of rigorous newness that hardly will have been reviewed previously in other congresses. We trust its active attendance once again.

In the present Madrilenian society, like in others of our surroundings, the increase in the load of chronic diseases is attributable as much to the aging of the population (the Madrilenians we have one of the majors life expectancies of all the European Union) as to healthful habits of little tie life to the consumption of tobacco and/or alcohol, to the lack of physical exercise and an incorrect feeding.
The Council of Health has been following bet to work for a safe, healthful feeding and of quality, being given continuity and reinforcing activities initiated already for years and innovating with new measures, especially between the infanto-youthful population and in the scholastic scope. For that reason one designed the Integral Plan of Feeding and Nutrition of the Community of Madrid (2005-2008), to combine efforts in our region in response to the different strategies from world-wide, European and national level in the field of the feeding, physical activity and health.
It pleases to collaborate in this I SAW Congress to us the International of Dietetic the Spanish Society of and Sciences of the Feeding fortifying the activities in this matter carried out from the different social agents, and especially from the sanitary Administration and the scientific societies, in order that, from the different professional scopes, we are able to unify and to simplify messages that transfer to the population the last advances in the scientific knowledge and they occur to know the interventions our regional administration to improve the diet of the Madrilenians.
